Destiny Udogie has expressed his happiness at signing a new long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur and admitted that he feels ‘at home’ with the North Londoners.

The Italian was signed by Spurs in the summer of 2022 back when Antonio Conte was still our manager and Fabio Paratici was heading up the transfer activity for a fee of £ 15 million. He was loaned back to Udinese for the rest of the season and finally linked up with his new club earlier this summer.

Udogie has taken the Premier League by storm, establishing himself as a key player in Ange Postecoglou’s setup. He scored his first goal for the club against Newcastle United last weekend and since rewarded with a new long-term deal.

Udinese midfielder Sandi Lovric who played with Udogie at the Italian club revealed to the Italian Football Podcast that the Spurs left-back has ‘crazy crazy quality’ and that he is not surprised by how he has performed in the Premier League.

Udogie is ‘happy at Tottenham

Speaking to Tottenham’s official website after signing his new contract, Udogie is enjoying his time in England and was visibly enthralled having just put pen to paper.

“I’m really happy… happy because to be here at this club is a big joy for me, and happy for this opportunity.”

“From the first day I came here, I felt at home, with the players, the coaching staff, the whole club, I feel so welcome. It’s the way everyone at the club respects you, the players, everyone.”

“The Premier League is very tough, it’s a physical league, intense… the staff are doing big work every day, and it’s showing on the pitch. It’s the most difficult league, you have to be ready mentally, physically, and I’m finding a good experience. Every day I’m learning something new, every day working with great players.”

Spurs Musings Opinion

Udogie has caught most of us by surprise with his instant impact at Spurs in his first 14 appearances in all competitions (transfermarkt). I think a case can be made for him being the best Premier League left-back this season.

Spurs have rightfully rewarded him with a new long-term contract that should show him the kind of confidence the club have in him. Udogie has what it takes to become one of the best in the world and it looks like we would see that happen in a Spurs shirt. We can be grateful for yet another of Fabio Paratici’s gems in the transfer market.
