Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke is the subject of interest from two Championship clubs ahead of the new season, according to the Northern Echo.

The report claims that Sunderland are keen to retain the services of the winger who spent the second half of last season on loan at the Stadium of Light, having turned out for Stoke City in during the opening months of the campaign.

The Black Cats have commenced talks with Spurs over the prospect of taking the 21-year-old to Wearside on a permanent basis, but could face competition from fellow Championship outfit Sheffield United, who have also made their interest known to those at the Premier League side.

Spurs sources are said to claim that the club are considering moving Clarke on permanently, with the former Leeds United player entering the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Clarke arrived in north London in a £10million deal in 2019 (The Sun) and has failed to make a Premier League appearance during his time at the club.

Sunderland are reported to be hopeful that Spurs will make a decision on Clarke’s future ahead of their flight departing to South Korea on July 9th to kick off their pre-season tour to South Korea.

Our Opinion – Time to cash in

Given the attacking abundance, especially on the left-hand side of the pitch that Spurs currently have, it’s hard to imagine that Clarke has any sort of future at the club.  His contract situation will also be at the forefront of their mind and the ability to recoup a few million now, rather than risk him walking away for free will likely mean that he is sold this summer.
