Speaking in the pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Chelsea, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel has claimed that every team that Antonio Conte manaes are title contenders and the same applies for the north Londoners this season.

Tottenham and Chelsea are set to face off on the second matchday of the Premier League this season with Conte’s side looking to reverse their terrible record at Stamford Bridge. The lilywhites have managed to win just one of their last 37 matches in all competitions at Chelsea’s home ground, having drawn 12 and lost 24. (Sky Sports)

Spurs enjoyed an impressive start to the Premier League campaign securing a convincing 4-1 win over Southampton on the opening matchday of the season with Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier and Dejan Kulusevski find the back of the net along with a Mohammed Salisu own goal.

Tottenham have been unusually busy in the transfer window securing deals for six players this summer including Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Fraser Forster, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence.

Tuchel believes that Antonio Conte knows how to train his team and believes that Spurs will be title contenders for the Premier League title this season.

The German told Football. London: “I think that every team Antonio Conte trains is a title contender. It’s always like this, in every country with every team”

“They strengthened their squad, they strengthened in their depth, and they have a very demanding coach with an incredible record in domestic titles.”

“He will push them to the limit and any team with this kind of quality management, which pushes players to the limit, can over-perform and fight for the top four. And if you fight for the top four, you fight for everything. If you’re still in the race in March, you’re fighting for everything. It’s a long way to go and he will never admit it, but for me, an Antonio Conte team fights for everything.”

Our View

Antonio Conte is a serial winner. He has won trophies at the clubs that he has managed so far and he knows how to make a team trophy challengers. He has also made the signings that he thinks will improve the squad.

It is now up to the Italian tactician to show what he is capable of and lead the lilywhites to the trophy that we are craving for so long. Tottenham have a squad to challenge for trophies on all four fronts and it is time to end the long wait to add to the trophy cabinet.
